Focus On “YOUR” Family

Exodus 20:4-5

 

I. FOCUS ON AMERICAN IDOLS!

To Idolize means to VALUE something else and not God.

DEUTERONOMY 4:15-16

“Be extremely careful for your own good—because you did not see any form on the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire—

not to act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of any figure: a male or female form.

WHEN YOU FOCUS ON IDOLS THEY...

1. WILL  DISAPPOINT YOU!

Jeremiah 10:14-15, Habakkuk 2:18

Everyone is stupid and ignorant. Every goldsmith is put to shame by [his] carved image, for his cast images are a lie; there is no breath in them

2. WILL POINT  YOU THE WRONG  DIRECTION!

1 Corinthians 12:2

You know how, when you were pagans, you were led to dumb idols—being led astray.

3. WILL CHANGE YOU!

Psalm 115:8; Jeremiah 2:5

Those who make them are just like them, as are all who trust in them

 

II. FOCUS YOUR WORSHIP ONLY ON GOD!

THAT MEANS TO GIVE MY HIGHEST LOVE AND DEVOTION TO GOD.

Romans 1:25

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator

The Benefits of Worshipping God Only…

 

1. FOCUSING ON GOD BRINGS DELIGHT TO MY HEART!

Psalm 37:4; Romans 10:11

Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires.

 

2. FOCUSING ON GOD SETS ME FREE.

John 8:31-32; 36

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, Or My teaching, or My message you really are My disciples.

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

 

3. FOCUSING ON GOD WILL DEVELOP ME.

2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 4:13-15;

We all, with unveiled faces, are reflecting[5] Or are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit
