A Mother of Great Faith!

Matthew 15:21-28

 

1. A Mother’s Request! She was a GENTILE!

Matthew 15:22

[22] Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came and kept crying out, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is cruelly tormented by a demon.”

 

2. Jesus Response was SILENCE!

[23] Yet He did not say a word to her... Psalm 138:3, Psalm 44:23; Jeremiah 14:9; Psalm 22:1-2; Psalm 80:4 Lamentations 3:8

 

3. The disciples take CHARGE!

...So His disciples approached Him and urged Him, “Send her away because she cries out after us.

 

4. Jesus Response was UNEXPECTED!

[24] He replied, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”  Acts 3:26

 

5. A Mother’s plea from her KNEES!

[25] But she came, knelt before Him, and said, “Lord, help me!”

 

6. Jesus SURPRISING response!

[26] He answered, “It isn’t right to take the children’s bread and throw it to their dogs.” Romans 9:4; Philippians 3:2

 

7. A mother’s CONFESSION!

[27] “Yes, Lord,” she said, “yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table!”

 

8. A Mother’s plea, GRANTED!

[28] Then Jesus replied to her, “Woman, your faith is great. Let it be done for you as you want.” And from that moment her daughter was cured

                 A mother’s plea was answered because of her FAITH!

She was wise, humble, patient and preserved in prayer.

                 If in your heart you will come humbly before Jesus, He will answer your plea?
