“In Remembrance of Me”

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

What does “The Lord’s Supper” mean to you?

As a Christian it is...

I. Proclaiming the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 11:26

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

1 Corinthians 11:23-24

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: on

the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said,[6] Other mss add “Take, eat.

“This is My body, which is broken for you.

II. Remembering Jesus

1 Corinthians 11:24

...Do this in remembrance of Me.”

 John 6:35

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again

III. Celebrating a New Covenant

1 Corinthians 11:25

In the same way [He] also [took] the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Jeremiah 31:33-34

“Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of

Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will place

My law Or instruction within them and write it on their

hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.

No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying:

Know the Lord, for they will all know Me, from the least to

the greatest of them”—the Lord’s declaration. “For I will

forgive their wrong doing and never again remember their

 sin.

Matthew 26:28

For this is My blood [that establishes] the covenant; it is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.
